Enchantment Resort has been a tennis destination since its conception as a John Gardiner's Tennis Ranch in the late 1980s. As a haven for tennis enthusiasts, this Arizona tennis resort offers private lessons, activities, tennis programs, tournaments and workshops. The talented staff, many of whom are United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) certified, offer instruction from beginning to advanced levels.

John Meyers
John played collegiate tennis at Western New Mexico University from 1974-1976. He became a USRSA (United States Racquet Stringers Association) certified racquet technician in 1994 and received his USPTA teaching credentials in 2005. He began teaching tennis at Enchantment Resort during the summer of 2000. John now splits his time at Enchantment between serving as a tennis teaching pro and a hiking guide, leading resort guests through the beautiful red rocks of Sedona.
James Marsh
As a teenager, James began playing in competitive tennis tournaments and then moved on to play on his high school team which won 52 matches in a row. After two years at Community College, James received a tennis scholarship for Northeast Missouri State University. While attending college the team had a record of 25-0, while his personal record was 24-1 playing positions 1, 2 and 3. James graduated with an Education Major and a Recreation Minor. Soon after he joined the military and served as a Navy Pilot.
James has been a tennis instructor since 1972. He has enjoyed being a teacher at Enchantment for the past 15 years. He has been ranked #1 in the Southwest and most recently he was ranked #6 in the country by the USTA for the 60 and over Men's doubles category.
A.J. Kalayeh
A.J. is among an elite group of tennis professionals with an unbounded enthusiasm for teaching all levels of players. He has been part of ownership of World Team Tennis and has directed tennis programs at exclusive private clubs, resorts, and tennis camps throughout Missouri and Arizona for over 25 years. A.J.’s philosophy is that tennis is a lifetime sport, and his students have fun while improving their skills.
Phil Kovac
Phil has been teaching tennis for more than 15 years, most recently as a coach for Arizona high school teams. He coached the girls team state champions in 2009, and the individual girl’s champion in 2008 and 2009. He was the winner of the Chicago Open in 1978, and has played with many of the top professionals over the years. His leadership, skills and dedication to the sport brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Enchantment Resort’s guests.
