Michael Wichman
Michael Wichman is a professional photographer and wilderness guide based in Flagstaff, Arizona. His first adventure below the rim of the Grand Canyon was in 2004 and he has not looked back since. A hiking guide since 2008 and a photography guide since 2020, Michael is passionate about all wild and scenic places, with a love of capturing images, hiking, climbing, rafting, and snowboarding. He has a wide range of experiences in the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Tetons, Glacier, Yosemite, Great Smoky Mountains, Costa Rica, and many wilderness areas in the Western U.S. In addition to wildlife and landscape photography, he enjoys researching and reading about geology, Native American culture, and Pioneer-era history. Michael holds a bachelors degree in psychology from UCLA, where he worked with children with autism, and a Masters degree in Environmental Science & Policy from Northern Arizona University with a focus on uranium mining issues. Michael loves meeting new people of all backgrounds, ages, and ethnicities and finds shared group experiences extremely enriching. He looks forward to the opportunity to provide quality photography instruction while sharing adventures and creating memories with you.
